Oh please don't be so smart. What you say means to lose the pixel density of Retina Display. Would you want that?
Considering the treshold is 300 PPI for "Retina" at 12 inches of distance and that the iPhone 4 has 326 PPI at 3.5", yes I say we can afford to lose a few PPI for a bigger screen. In the end, it will still be "Retina" (as in you can't distinguish individual pixels at a normal viewing distance).
Anyway, it's not like a screen being "Retina" or not has any effect on a developer. If both screens are 960x640, the developer has nothing to change with his code or art at all. It will all work, no matter the actual screen size. What does being a developer even have to do with losing some PPI ? Nothing. Nothing at all.

I don't FEEL ignorant and stupid. Maybe that's because I took the time to READ and UNDERSTAND the limitations imposed on me by iTunes/iPod before I BOUGHT in. And maybe because I understand that what I am BUYING is a DIGITAL DATA FILE that must be interpreted by a certain APPLICATION to become music, and that this was EXPLAINED to me before I BOUGHT. That I don't OWN the MUSIC, and that there are LIMITATIONS to what I can do with it. ( And if you think I'm wrong on that last point, let a copyright holder catch you using their music for commmercial gain. Write back to us and describe the world of hurt that descends on you)!

so true. I wonder if the new iPod's will have a longer battery life, god I'd hope so with Movies and their lengths.. if not, there goes the whole legal electronic Movie business, haha, or at least for Apple.. until they then provide longer battery life. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

iPhone will be release in Australia within the next month (end of Feb by the latest) only on the Telstra network. Unfortunately Telstra has exclusive rights for the iPhone, so the product will be awesome (e.g. being Apple) but the service provider will be crap....
At my work we got a demo of the iPhone from Telstra for development reasons, we will be supplying data for a few of the services for the iPhone in Australia.

I've considered it, just to be a show off. Kinda like Eidorian's post above, I'm known as the guy with gadgets and knowledge by friends/family. Whipping out a 40" screen from my pocket wouldn't hurt. ;)

Airport security is on a downward spiral, they really need to rethink the approach. Basic human dignity is being trampled on, the costs involved are skyrocketing and the whole approach just adds to making air travel unpleasant.

... The iPhone is a great piece of kit, but this software update is a great disappointment. Generally I know where I am, so the psuedo GPS thing is something I can't see myself using (and to be honest if I didn't know where I was, then I'm pretty damn sure that there wouldn't be any O2 coverage anyway!).
Not to be a pain, but the phuedo GPS is like the coolest thing for people like me that travel... now I'll be able to find myself with one click. I love that feature!
What I thought was missing was Multiple Delete for email and copy and paste. I really wished they we're in this update... the rest I'm very happy about! Besides... this is the only phone I've ever had that has any upgrades! That alone is cool! My iPhone just keeps getting better! :-)

I find the comments and whining on this forum absolutely amazing. Surely a Windows forum would have fewer complaints about Apple.
I don't own an iPhone; I have no use for Time Capsule; and I don't want to rent movies. However, I am happy for those people who find these products useful.
I use my computer basically for email and writing reports (still doing them in Appleworks!), and I travel around a lot with my iBook. The MacBook Air really interests me. I don't need a powerful chip for that. I don't need a lot of hard drive space for that. For me, Air is quite tempting, although I might get a MacBook Black instead until the bugs are worked out of Air (price with 2 gigs is roughly the same for the two machines). I am prepared to pay the same for less because I know I am paying for the latest and new toys cost more.
It seems that many of the complainers expected Jobs to phone them first to ask what they wanted. They also want the very latest technology for very little money.

Hmm..I wonder if this means that we wont see the issues plaguing the 23"s (poor color, banding, etc etc etc)

1. Time Capsule - seems kind of cool. Would have to look into it a bit more, but the price doesn't seem too bad considering that it's an N-router and a hard drive. I would hope that Apple would also make the wireless drive work on older AEBS like they promised, but maybe that's crazy talk.
2. iPhone/iPod Touch - Yay for the SDK, although I am a little perplexed about the locator thing. My Helio Ocean has had a google maps feature with a locator function since it came out in like April, and it's very exact in telling you where you are - none of this multi-block radius crap.
The other thing is the paid update, combined with the updates being included on new, less expensive Touches. LAME. LAME. LAME. Apple should get reamed by customers on this.
3. iTunes rentals/Apple TV2 - I think the rentals are ok - pretty much the same as pay-per-view, except should be a better selection. I like the option for HD. I do wish that the time frame was 48 hours, and I also wish that the movies came out on the dvd release date and not a month later.
As for Apple TV2, I think it was a step closer toward making it useful. It really should just have a full browser and a dvd/blu-ray drive. The lower price is helpful, but keeping the 40 gig hard drive is kind of an insult.
4. MacBook Air - What can I say? A comparatively weak processor, no graphics card, no user replaceable battery, soldered-in RAM, 80 gig iPod hard drive or $1,000 dollar SSD, mono speaker and $1800?!?! I'm not a fan of the fat bezel around the screen either. I do like the multi-touch, and I think the optical drive sharing with other computers is pretty neat.
Overall, I have to say I'm disappointed. I am looking to buy two macbook pros but wanted to wait for updates. I briefly considered just going ahead and getting them now anyway, but decided not to. I am confused as to why Apple would come up with new tech and NOT put it in their pro line, but they'll have to sooner or later and I'll wait until they do.
I don't think the disappointment is limited to whiners on these forums. Look at AAPL today - down over 6% since this morning.

You can't download a file via rtsp protocol (as far as I know). Only stream.

It was about a year before I adopted X and I was not happy with it. It was clunky and incomplete. It was a long time before it dawned on me that I was in a new and better world.
